The Patterson House

After years of cultivating a strong brand identity and distinctive atmosphere in their previous location, Patterson House and Catbird Seat sought to honor their established legacy and refine their image for the future in a new space. Located in a new construction atop Nashville's historic Voorhees building, the project embraces adaptive reuse while activating and grounding a growing neighborhood.

The moment you step off the elevator, you know exactly where you are. Subtle nods to the original location like an antique chandelier, a fireplace, and carefully curated décor, serve as instant touchstones, connecting the new setting to its storied past.

To the left, a dramatic arched entry invites you into Patterson House, where a large, U-shaped bar anchors the room and reinforces a sense of intimacy and gathering. Thick velvet drapery frames the floor-to-ceiling windows allowing the space to shift effortlessly from dusk to night, deepening the mood as daylight fades. Jewel-toned velvet upholstery and low-level lighting enhance a warm ambiance while glass and metal accents subtly reflect light, creating an intimate glow throughout.

Curved banquette seating, deep wood tones, and a restored tin ceiling all nod to the bar's rich history, while cherry wood wall paneling, a dramatic arched entry portal, and herringbone wood floors add to its evolving legacy.

The addition of a private dining room, including a separate bar and lounge seating, introduces new flexibility, supporting private events and additional revenue streams. Vintage Murano glass chandeliers and lush velvet upholstery bring a sense of craft and elegance to this space.

Patterson House and Catbird Seat put Nashville on the map as a culinary destination and continue to be beloved institutions that stand the test of time while elevating the city’s culinary community. By reestablishing these Nashville staples in a vibrant new location, the project strengthens the city’s cultural fabric and reinforces its reputation as a premier destination for food and hospitality.
